Photographer Adrian Dennis reports from the Olympics

"The Olympics are well under way for me now. I've just finished my second day of competition photographing the Men's Freestyle Skiing Moguls. It's been a week since I arrived but today was the first time I saw blue skies. Cypress Mountain, the venue for all the freestyle and extreme skiing has been suffering from the effects unseasonal weather. There hasn't been much snow, but plenty of rain.

The mountains are bare and the organisers have been using trucks and helicopters to import the snow. However, the Olympics must go on, which means I still have to get out on the slopes to photograph the athletes in action. Rain and snow make things difficult for photographers, staying dry and warm is crucial as well as keeping our cameras and lenses dry.

The Olympics have been good so far, I enjoyed the Opening Ceremony peculiarly. Working for AFP, an international news agency, allows me access to the stadium floor, where I photograph the teams, it's also a prime position to photograph the lighting of the flame. I was pleased to open my hotel door the next morning to find The Vancouver Sun lying there with my picture on the front page. I'm still excited to see my work in the newspaper."
